URL-based editing
Hi Wordy
You say I can suggest anything I think can be an improvement for us, well there may be one thing. As you probably realized, we are building a new website. The pre-release version, containing a blog and a simple index page with some very basic information will go out next week. Since neither of us in the team is an english native speaker (for me english is a third language), it would be extremely useful for us, if somebody could proofread not only my blog posts, but also all the texts on the website.
For exapmle, I could send a link, like http://mysite.com/about/ to you, or to your editors and they would proofread ALL of the texts, on the whole page and send corrections by email in a form: "Replace text 'xxxx' with text 'yyy'". I can imagine it can be a bit hard, but maybe later there could be a mechanism, how to edit the page directly in the html.
What do you think? Would it be possible for wordy.com to do such a service for us? If yes, at what price?
Thanks.

Inappropriate?Dear customer
That's a great idea. No really, that's a fantastic idea!
When building new functionality we look at convenience and relevance, and I think it's safe to say that "URL-based" copy-editing could really make a difference for anyone in your situation: a site in the making, multiple publishers and the need for uniform style and great copy.
I would love to see this service added to Wordy before end of Q2. I'll keep you posted on this! Actually, I can't wait.

Inappropriate? So we've been working on this idea, please let us know your thoughts on this MO.
Websites tend to have a very complex structure, so it's not guaranteed Wordy would be able to successfully crawl the entire site so that customers are happy with the price – some texts on websites tend to be duplicated, or two different links go to the same page, there are links to administration area of page, which shouldn’t be edited, etc.
So we have this idea: We can avoid complexity by asking a little help from a customer: “What exact url's do you want Wordy to copy-edit?". Then it all goes like this:
1. Customer enters a list of url-addresses, separated by a new-line
2. Wordy connects to the url's, and saves their HTML-content, polishing some stuff (like making absolute urls).
3. Editors edit the content and delivers HTML back to the customer
4. Customer looks at revisions to see what changes are need on the website
Some issues though:
- We don’t know if it’s possible to preserve full page layout (CSS) in Wordy's WYSIWYG editor
- Pages that have AJAX content etc. would not work in the WYSIWYG editor
But with a little prototyping and testing we could really see if this can go further. What are your ideas?
